Money Sex and Power?

Havent really blogged in a while but something in me told me that there was almost an uncontrollable impulse tugging at the strings of me to put this up. To share it amongst people i consider dear to me.

Let this be the initial topic we have since we have differing views on religion, and hopefully adopt what's best for us?

Came across an article on Money, Sex and Power, a christian take on it. In all honesty, i wasn't convinced by it.

The core axiom of the article seemed to grapple with a couple of different things, of which one caught my particular interest. Determinism.

Quoted from the Article:

"a false sense of being in control of circumstances in our lives causes us to exchange the omniscient wisdom of God for our own pitiful abilities. We miss out on God's best provision - Himself - and struggle unnecessarily in constant under-fulfillment and distraction from things of eternal consequence."

I contend this notion of "false sense of being in control". Are we supposed to just lay back and watch as the hours go by. Bring ourselves into believing that everything is uncertain, due to the unpredictable.

Resigning ourselves to Murphy's law, in this case might be what the author might be alluding to. BUT, with a slight variation through the injection of divinity into the equation as the ultimate form of determinism.

The author seems to imply that there can be no such thing as confidence, which is also related to my point of contention about determinism.

Let's assume two things for the scenario i'm about to paint. 1) You believe that nothing is certain and that the fat lady sings whenever god decides for her to sing. 2) You also believe that she might just spit in your face at the end of it instead of singing.

Assume that our boss calls us in, looks at us straight in the eye and asks, "You confident in the pitch tmr?"

What am i supposed to say to him? Am i supposed to "lie" which is also against the ten commandments and tell him "NO PROBLEM" (a sure sign of confidence) Yet i'm uncertain about it because ultimately God is the one who determines it.

Yet without conviction in what you do, and the certainty to a "successful" formula. What kind of conviction are you talking about? Do your best and let god decide, while you are hiding in an apathetic corner due to your lack of conviction and confidence based on what you did?

You decide.
